Some recent stuff that happened in Pox
Back on my winning ways(with FF FW - no more splits for awhile), and passed the "mucker" test.
The mucker test is where a highly ranked player sends a mucker at you to see if you can handle it.
I like to play, but only when we CONGA! Right before he surrendered... if only I'd played a Sizzlechest!
To be the best, you gotta watch the best... number one vs. number 3 I think it was.... a lot of people were watching this one, and it was quite epic... BTW, number one player is playing one of the least popular factions, and running Kanen who are by no means OP. His opponent is playing standard FW META. Watched this battle for awhile, they both really knew what they were doing.
I love it - got the EA down to 0 dmg, and I'm not even running a curse/hex bg, was just a lucky accident.... and yes I pulled off the win, despite massive spell spam killing many ZOMGBIES.
Moragen + Grim Well... makes living opponents go hmmmmmmmmmmmm..... spell spam did eventually get them, but it took awhile.
Played 2 games against PoxAvenger... first one was meh... I surrendered after him getting the middle font from Banish.... but the 2nd one was epic and went for quite awhile and we got a good chat in.... banish ended up being the difference in this one also though, when my built up AoC got banished cause I lost the dead zone protecting it. From the screen shot - you can see both Avas transfigured and doing battle.
I hate banish... unless I'm running it of course. ;-)
No one can beat the randomness of Circus... when I got tired of testing stuff, AoC owned.
Mirroring your champ seems like a good idea... except the computer ignores them and goes straight to hit the real one.
This is me losing to cute baby furbulls. :-( awwww, but they're so cute!

Finally played the number 1 pox player last night....found out why they are number 1
Sat in the queue for awhile, so I knew I could get matched up with anyone.
Just about ready to give up waiting on a game and go do something else... when the next match starts loading.... Get in and find I'm matched against the BEST player in Pox... and me running my fun ZOMGbies and and werewolves(kanen) synergy free bg(not that it likely would have mattered). SO my FW/SL vs. his FS/ST.
People are always talking about the META... I got to see the META!
And I gotta say, this was one of the most fun and educational loses I have had. Its a whole nother level from losing to an exotic league ranked champ.
It started out nice.... a couple of baby furbulls... I thought great, maybe Algalon is playing a fun bg too... maybe I have a chance(its good to dream - I bounce around between uncommon and exotic leagues depending on the bg I'm running), but baby furbulls grow up, and become papa furbulls, who are really good at contesting fonts with crystalize.
I managed to deploy 2 kanen the 1st round too, so it wasn't as bad as some of the draws I've had, where its the 3rd or 4th round before I get my 1st non-lumbering champ. ;-)
He went to his 2 fonts, I went to my 2 fonts, then the fun began....
Uh oh... is that the new yeti Isee... Its nice when your opponent deploys something, then tells you is OP. ;-) At this point I'm reading thru its abilities to see what it does... hmm maybe it would be good to try mimicing it. ;-) hmm not so much, but I did it anyways. and I liked it, and it made my kanen angry....
Yeti stuck up the middle for awhile, as his regen was almost as high as the dmg I was doing to him.... Moral victory, as my TJA managed to kill it, but failed to get the kill for his blood thirsty blade which I had to equip, since he used his 1st life. the furbull then ran away, so the TJA ran over to kill the hippo to reset the blade... at this point he has already contested or stolen my fonts. Although he did tell me that killing his Yeti was better then most of his opponents.
Killing the hippo didn't turn out to be a match changer - as he possessed my TJA and cliff dived him, and then told me he didn't usually run equip removal... inadvertently insulting my bg with 3! equip removal champs. ;-)
At this point the AoG was pretty pumped up and he started popping out stuff like the crystal phoenix and mass cleanse to heal everyone and pump it up more... it was just mop up for him, and killing my shrine.....
Not pictured, but as he was coming in to kill my shrine out popped Zeven, just in case I was planning a comeback. ;-)
At the beginning I joked joked, the only way I could win was by DC... and towards the end of the match a DC happened, right in the middle of typing, as by then we were just chatting as he marched in for the kill.. but when I logged back in, he was still winning and the match was still going. :-(
In conclusion - to get to be ranked number 1 in pox - you have to be really good, and have a really tight bg(s) - He mentioned that he rotates 12 bgs at the moment... I would guess as you wouldn't want to run the same bg all the time, as then the people ranked just below you could make a bg just to beat you when they see you logged in.
Watching him use multiple cheap champs to engage my champs and run others by to contest fonts while still having the nora for expensive champs, was a different exp then playing against other lower ranked players....I'm sure the META bg helped, but I wouldn't be surprised if we switched bgs and he still managed to pull out a win.(unless of course he was so annoyed at my oddly built bg he rage quit. ;-)

My Lords of madness case came yesterday!
My Lords of madness case came yesterday! Finally got a chance to go thru them and take pictures.
Couldn't have been a better case - 3 VRs, none of which I'd ordered as singles - c'tallum(much better looking then expected), Mephistopheles(really nice - as expected), and huge blue dragon(really nice - as expected).
9 rares most of which I hadn't ordered. Most of the ones I hadn't gotten in my amazon boosters looked great.
Better then expected:
c'tallum - not so shiny and actually washed - pose looks better in person
Zhentarim Cavalry - was really looking forward to this piece - and even better then expected - looks better then the pic in the gallery - one of the best mounted minis I've seen.
Zhentarim Soldier - nice shield
Water Archon Shoal Reaver - actually a pretty cool mini
Trapped Chest - looks great - wish it'd been a common
Rot Grub Swarm - looks like real grubs... what more can you say
Kenku Wing Mage - actually a cool looking mini
Iron Golem Juggernaut - other then the goofy small head - great looking
Efreet Flameblade - makes a great devil/demon soldier
Astral Giant - nice shield
Brain in a jar - looks great

Neogi Slaver - very small and unimpressive

New LOM minis arrived today
New LOM minis arrived today - got my minis from amazon using gift cards I had gotten - ordered 4 packs of the new set. No huge VR, but 1 rare and 3 UC. Got 5 rares (3 med,1lg,1hu)and a medium VR total - so can't complain about that. Also got some of the CR minis I ordered from auggies a few days ago - so threw in some pics of them too. My daughter has started painted some of them as rainbow zombie dragons already. ;-) Blue PC minis seem a little small - maybe after a layer of paint they'll look a little more robust.
Nicer then expected:
Tri-horn behemoth - great looking triceratops - and they have to be good cause it is such an easy piece to find in packs of plastic "dinos". One of my favorites I got from the new set.
Stone giant - great looking giant - will easily proxy for lots of giants or large humanoids - would be good for repainting
Cloaker ambusher - looks great - and the back which is never shown looks great - nicely patterned darker blue
DB elementalist - great looking DB arcane
Lots of minis looked as good as expected - ones that are pictured but not listed below
Not so nice as expected:
Nalfeshnee tyrant - could use 1 more paint step, goofy little wings

Finally got my new Orcus "mini" - an epic quest!
After 3 tries, finally had a successful order....
ordered when 1st announced a couple of years ago - cancelled and assumed production was cancelled.... but wait
announced awhile back that it was going to be released - so started saving my free amazon gift cards
saw the preorder up on amazon again, but no quantity to order
passed on the auggies preoreder since I had the amazon gift cards and amazon had the preorder up
preorder date on amazon caame and went
finally they took the page down --- oh noes!
ordered from another company that had a listing on amazon..... They cancelled their order cause "it was autolisted at too low a price(full retail) and they wanted to relist at a higher price" ---- "Amazon seller: Art's Game Store" ---- don't waste your time ordering from them
none were available to order.... so ... oh noes!
Next day saw one listed by "Amazon seller: gamers_inn" they shipped and it arrived today!
Finally got it!

How they take those really awesome pictures online - quantam king kondo in progress
Happy new Year!
Wanted to get a "quantam king kondo" - but the price online is ridiculous - so I bought a regular clear one to create my own. Also noticed on the real one - it looks like his chains are painted gold - I decided to go with clear gold rather then the thick gold of the real one. The chains were completed - this uses a gold colored indian ink pen. I will let that dry and then add the purple highlights next time I paint. But while my daughter and I were photographing him afterwards - the pictures turned out pretty awesome.
Pictures are first with normal light, then red led, and then white led. The red led ones turned out great - and look as good as any clear mini pictures I've seen on the web- and this is just with a standard led flashlight and nikon coolpix l20 camera in macro mode.
