New Pathfinder and DCM minis

Finally got some of the new Pathfinder and DCM minis and they are great. Link to all the pics from my birthday/gameday and some pics of just the minis. Also did a time lapse movie of our gaming sessions. I've always liked watching stuff at "hyper" speed, still looking for some good software to add audio commentary and a good soundtrack.....

The new DCM tentacle minis and the choker.... and how often do you get to see a nun team up with a Rancor. ;-)

A batch of the new goblins with a few of the other new minis from the set... thought that the HS large green guy looked like a good papa Goblin mini for all the baby goblins.... also my 6 year old daughter absolutely loved the goblins too.

Look pretty good, scale is right compared to other minis - they fit in just fine next to the other recent ddm PC minis like "Male Human Invoker"(thats the guys in yellow robes below) See them pictured with many other companies minis for scale. Plastic seems fine, not as brittle as the clix, but not quite as durable as the ddms...... I wouldn't try running over them, like someone did with a ddm common, but they should be fine for normal play use.

3 font map - he had 2 fonts and was pushing in towards me, almost surrendered, but just kept plugging away and deploying runes.... then he transfigured his shrine and rushed in and pushed me back more... then he flew his IE into my font.... so now I had no fonts.... but I kept killing(slowly he had lots of majestic) finally got his avatar trapped, and on came the rage quit! He had my shrine down to 31 hp and had killed my ToH.

Quite a match..... it sure takes a long time after a rage quit to time out and surrender.

Wow - and at the end - notice he's one of the top players! he's 2329-1173

Game last night was pretty tough - he rushed out with his 8 speed champ and had middle font quick... luckily my lethargic 5 speed champ could just reach it... then i had to just overwhelm him with ZOMGBIES.....

Tonight's game.... his 1st 2 deploys were IS angels, so I just get scrying every turn to get decay.... would have been over sooner, but his 1st Angel intensified before I got it.... Once I did though, it was gg - his Angels heal 8 a turn, and I got it before the 2nd one intesified.... so I killed all his champs in the 2 rounds after decay was cast...

Oh, and the one picture from when I had ST listed as my faction... from my epic win AGAINST ZOMGBIES. ;-) that didn't last long... more FW points already.

It really looks like knowing your bg/champs is as important as anything else... I do much better with my FW bgs then I do with all these weird splits I come up with. ;-)

Pile on the auras... the clumped auras helped with the killing, but it meant he did a lot of dmg with AOEs

Crazy reverse mirror match ST(yetis) v. FW(ZOMGBIES)

So you all know what a big FW player I am, and how ZOMGBIES are my favorite thing to run.... so imagine my surprise when I get matched up against it, especially since I haven't seen a FF FW in awhile.

I played yetis as a nice break, a quick lame match, and this good long one vs zombies

They are great 1 v 1 with normal champs - they had nothing to do against the SL/UD match I played 1st --- lame 7 min match, he mimic'd my yeti beserker with a DS and it was lol-gg with no spells and nothing that could kill it as it was ice eater and berserker at that point.... they also suck against ravenwraiths....

so onto the better match:

FYI - it is hard to control a map full of furbulls & yetis... I left a lot of ap on the map(almost cost me the game).

And i also learned that Carrion Colossus swarm zombies if you have 5 or more zombies out, not Carrionlings - maybe its time to add one of them to the ZOMGBIES BG....

Although I did accomplish what I wanted with this yeti bg - I'm ready to go back to a real bg with zombies and counters.....

The lame 1st game... it did start out nice with a 1st draw of totoro - extra funny since we watched the movie totoro earlier today... maybe that was why I had yetis on the brain... also cp'ing the yetis used up the rest of my gold tokens. :-(

Not actually trying to win just fill up the map with traps and furbulls, or something.... This also makes me want to go back to the 1 champ bg with undead magnus.... I kept running out of time with the champs on the board and forgot to deploy, thats how i piled up so much nora... realized i prolly couldn't kill the raven near my shrine in one round(almost no magic dmg) and just kept blocking it... on the next to last turn it broke thru since i ran out of time and didn't get it blocked --- took my shrine from nearly full to 28 in one turn..... so I had to kill his shrine fast, but it was getting clogged with ZOMGBIES on his end.....

JUst before the transfigure, where will he run too?

Oh boy 12 points for the hated protectorate faction... gotta be careful I don't pass my fw points... j/k at least it wasn't kf... they are the real blight of the poxland

Finally an epic matchup FW/IS vs. UD

The day before was bad 1-7... looks like power creep has made it even harder to run fun or theme bgs... Zombies + yetis and zombies both played badly.... seems like i faced in everything but the 1 win 2x new legendaries (FS and UD)

UD is the new FW, as most of the matches lately have been against them, with FS 2nd,.... as opposed to 2 weeks ago, when it was all FW and IS.....

I faced 1 FW/UD split, but they still were running demonologist and stiched firsts, so hardly FW themed .

So on to the good match --- 1st of all a thank you to my opponent for surrendering when it was clear I was winnning... we were about 9 minutes away from a downtime for a patch and he could have just delayed and cost us both the match(its as if games cancelled by a reset never existed, and no gold). The game had a lot of good back and forth and could have gone either way.... mainly because UD is the current OP faction of the moment, and even with a bg I had created specifically to beat what he had, UD can throw out so much dmg, it still took a long time to push thru.

Also - I got a new monitor, so I upped the resolution on the game and so the screen caps are even larger now.

Started out good with contesting his font and killing somthin', but he used retribution to take me out, or it could have been a quite win, cause undead magnus was already getting pumped up.

Quick, use all the "DOOMs" before the bigguns get DP'd. VRs are no fun to fight, much better to make them not exist, via doom or something else....

Looks bad, but several of my champs are immune phys dmg.... he finally ended up dooming them right back

if you can keep the Dwarven MC alive, it is a force to be reconned with... it was fun watching his units scattering every turn since he didn't know where the aritllery shell was coming down.

The high warlock stands alone.... why oh why didn they have to give him 2 fire attacks, if only his base attack was magic..... he can't kill the stupid fire ruby which almost all UD players run. Also finally killed his Mark of Sheoul which gives his champs 5 hp.... this is a real problem when you have about 10 champs with 4 hp.... think it was the most champs I ever killed in a round.

At this point the Stitched librarian has about 60 charges and is severely depleting his nora each turn with nora hex....and I have 2 miners and 2 mines out = a huge nora advantage... There were a few rounds I had as much as 400 nora and nothing to spend it on....

Game went over 1:30 and would have run longer if not for the looming outage

Mainly leveled up thru switching bg for the dailies each time one reached level 50, as I almost always use FW ava for ranked and it has been 50 for awhile.....

Playing against one of the better FW players, but he was running SP so it wasn't a mirror match

Started out nice, he figured he'd school a low ranked FW player.... but then he started losing and his friendliness took a turn for the worse... easily one of the foulest players I've played against.... Although he did call me kid, so I have to wonder just how old he is to call me kid.... I think the last person to call me kid was my grandma, but she calls anyone under 50 kid(she's 90something). ;-)

Also - I should say... my bg has 7 spells, so hardly a spell bg, but there is a combo in there I have never seen anyone else run or heard of on the forums... so I think he was frustrated by that. Oh and his strategy of hiding in the corner didn't seem so good either.

And to top it off - he could have transfigured his shrine and survived some more rounds.....

Oh, and first win against a limited player in awhile....

Right before my guy got drowned with dark pact on him(which should have caused the spell to fizzle). I could easily have lost anyways as I was up against a good player, and I was just trying out an UD bg to play my new maxx I got in a sale pack. :-( Maxx never got deployed. At least he pwned the computer A.I. opponent earlier.

At least my opponent knew about my blog, and he didn't seem aware of the bug, so he wasn't exploiting.

Watch everything decay and burn!

He almost came back from having a nora advantage with the middle font the whole game... you can't see it, but my E. REaper is buried until his relic, surprised I overcame that huge early deficit

Here comes the shrine... and he even transfigured it while decay was active, that sure helped when he did a bunch of dmg to his own guys.

People are not shy about hating on FW.... but some of the toughest bgs I have faced are SL/xx...... Its not really my fault IS players think they can run up to you and go impervious and be all good....

He had all the big bad dragons and was killing my poor lumbering ZOGMbies. :-(

He used the ranged Skeezick sniper to get my base down to 8 hp, and would have lost at the end of the turn if not for dropping the ToH. Luckily his bg ran lots of healing and the comeback happened, but it was the win that was closest to a loss ever for me.... except for maybe a disconnect or 2.

Been looking forward to painting the Gauth mini since the unpainted re-release came out, and I finally got some time to paint minis with my daughter - painted a Gauth(baby beholder).

Used a similar color scheme to the huge beholder that came out a few years ago - so it could pass as a baby for one of those.

Daughter painted some frog minis, and some pictures, and her hands, and her face in the time it took me to paint 1 mini - I guess I'm a slow painter. ;-)

Messed around with India ink and a blazing skeleton when I was done, then took a few pics. Light source for the skelly pics and the red tinted beholder pic is just a red or white LED.

game took 1:15 and wasn't decided till almost the end, a classic back and forth match, i contested his font, then he beat me back to my font, then I came back again.... part of the problem was half my bg couldn't hit the stupid remains....

Starting out - didn't realize I shouldn't deploy champs who can't hit relics. :-(

Uh oh - absorb, makes Serkan less effective, and about to equip a SoD - makes a great combo

Now how the heck do I kill it and not leave a relic? At one point he had a whole row of stealthed dreameaters.... I need detection and equip removal stat... oh wait, not in the bg.....

Always good to get a big win vs. the hated KF faction, especially when its uber torts with tons of summons... he was dominating the board thanks to a terrible draw on my part... 16 champs and nothing worth playing till the 3rd round, and that off a shrine scry.... oh well, yet another comeback victory for FW... I even made an actual swarm ZOMGBIE this time, usually I get none, and was about to make another when he surrendered.

Just starting out - could really use some viable early champs:

Was 0-3 vs. "the MAn" aka PoxAvenger, game 3 looked like I could pull it off as I was going in for his shrine, when the crazy combos started, and all my runes melted off the board, much too fast....

So game 4, I got an advantage early and I played one of my most careful games ever.... Carefully encroaching in on his shrine, using a Risen Moga as a pawn to run in and disease everyone that was hiding by his shrine.... as he used this tactic last time, hide by the shrine and use the +1AP to pull off double shots with everyone.

I knew it was looking good, when he used a FR on my Corpse Golem just so he could kill it ranged. Course it was wearing a Tempest Crown, so that pulled all of his harbys out of his zone and to their doom! DOOM! DOOM I say! DOOM!

At this point he has transfigured his shrine, and we are all in a big scrum, so I pop out a defiling spinel, and then its time for Surrender! Strangely of the 4 games, this is the 1st I didn't get a gg from him. :-(

I do wish Poxnora would give you a warning when the opponent surrenders so that you can take a last screen capture if you want.... just add it as an option, cause I'm sure not all would want it... or have a surrender button pop up, i.e. your opponent has surrendered (accept/deny) if you accept goto victory screen, if deny you can play out the game vs. the AI and when you win or quit it goes to victory screen

Pulled off 2 incredible wins, 1st FF FW vs. FW/IS super magnus..... liked it so much played my next games as FW/IS super magnus, and managed to pull off an incredible win vs. FF FW.

Its always nice when the other guys chopping blocks start chopping his avatar. ;-)

The biggest problem with super magnus, is one champ, makes you very draw dependent... my draws were so late in both games I played with him, both times my shrine was being attacked already when I drew him(almost managed to pull off the win in the 1st game with him too)... so it makes the win with him even more incredible.....

For some reason the other player sat there and took out all my relics instead of going for the shrine.... even on the next to last turn he still could have won with proper runes usage, just with what he had in play, luckily he didn't.... I noticed he rage quit right before I did a gg... after I typed it. ;-)

And I even took out the "unkillable/autowin" Dragon engine - which is quite a feet in itself, considering the thing in only like 59 nora

Lost again to PoxAvenger.... he seems to be becoming my nemesis, was in a good position, then the tricks started and my guys melted away.

Notice the granite bracers being equipped, pretty much was the difference in the match there... at least I didn't get banished. ;-)

Back on my winning ways(with FF FW - no more splits for awhile), and passed the "mucker" test.

The mucker test is where a highly ranked player sends a mucker at you to see if you can handle it.

I like to play, but only when we CONGA! Right before he surrendered... if only I'd played a Sizzlechest!

To be the best, you gotta watch the best... number one vs. number 3 I think it was.... a lot of people were watching this one, and it was quite epic... BTW, number one player is playing one of the least popular factions, and running Kanen who are by no means OP. His opponent is playing standard FW META. Watched this battle for awhile, they both really knew what they were doing.

I love it - got the EA down to 0 dmg, and I'm not even running a curse/hex bg, was just a lucky accident.... and yes I pulled off the win, despite massive spell spam killing many ZOMGBIES.

Moragen + Grim Well... makes living opponents go hmmmmmmmmmmmm..... spell spam did eventually get them, but it took awhile.

Played 2 games against PoxAvenger... first one was meh... I surrendered after him getting the middle font from Banish.... but the 2nd one was epic and went for quite awhile and we got a good chat in.... banish ended up being the difference in this one also though, when my built up AoC got banished cause I lost the dead zone protecting it. From the screen shot - you can see both Avas transfigured and doing battle.

I hate banish... unless I'm running it of course. ;-)

No one can beat the randomness of Circus... when I got tired of testing stuff, AoC owned.

Mirroring your champ seems like a good idea... except the computer ignores them and goes straight to hit the real one.

Finally played the number 1 pox player last night....found out why they are number 1

Sat in the queue for awhile, so I knew I could get matched up with anyone.

Just about ready to give up waiting on a game and go do something else... when the next match starts loading.... Get in and find I'm matched against the BEST player in Pox... and me running my fun ZOMGbies and and werewolves(kanen) synergy free bg(not that it likely would have mattered). SO my FW/SL vs. his FS/ST.

People are always talking about the META... I got to see the META!

And I gotta say, this was one of the most fun and educational loses I have had. Its a whole nother level from losing to an exotic league ranked champ.

It started out nice.... a couple of baby furbulls... I thought great, maybe Algalon is playing a fun bg too... maybe I have a chance(its good to dream - I bounce around between uncommon and exotic leagues depending on the bg I'm running), but baby furbulls grow up, and become papa furbulls, who are really good at contesting fonts with crystalize.

I managed to deploy 2 kanen the 1st round too, so it wasn't as bad as some of the draws I've had, where its the 3rd or 4th round before I get my 1st non-lumbering champ. ;-)

He went to his 2 fonts, I went to my 2 fonts, then the fun began....

Uh oh... is that the new yeti Isee... Its nice when your opponent deploys something, then tells you is OP. ;-) At this point I'm reading thru its abilities to see what it does... hmm maybe it would be good to try mimicing it. ;-) hmm not so much, but I did it anyways. and I liked it, and it made my kanen angry....

Yeti stuck up the middle for awhile, as his regen was almost as high as the dmg I was doing to him.... Moral victory, as my TJA managed to kill it, but failed to get the kill for his blood thirsty blade which I had to equip, since he used his 1st life. the furbull then ran away, so the TJA ran over to kill the hippo to reset the blade... at this point he has already contested or stolen my fonts. Although he did tell me that killing his Yeti was better then most of his opponents.

Killing the hippo didn't turn out to be a match changer - as he possessed my TJA and cliff dived him, and then told me he didn't usually run equip removal... inadvertently insulting my bg with 3! equip removal champs. ;-)

At this point the AoG was pretty pumped up and he started popping out stuff like the crystal phoenix and mass cleanse to heal everyone and pump it up more... it was just mop up for him, and killing my shrine.....

Not pictured, but as he was coming in to kill my shrine out popped Zeven, just in case I was planning a comeback. ;-)

At the beginning I joked joked, the only way I could win was by DC... and towards the end of the match a DC happened, right in the middle of typing, as by then we were just chatting as he marched in for the kill.. but when I logged back in, he was still winning and the match was still going. :-(

In conclusion - to get to be ranked number 1 in pox - you have to be really good, and have a really tight bg(s) - He mentioned that he rotates 12 bgs at the moment... I would guess as you wouldn't want to run the same bg all the time, as then the people ranked just below you could make a bg just to beat you when they see you logged in.

Watching him use multiple cheap champs to engage my champs and run others by to contest fonts while still having the nora for expensive champs, was a different exp then playing against other lower ranked players....I'm sure the META bg helped, but I wouldn't be surprised if we switched bgs and he still managed to pull out a win.(unless of course he was so annoyed at my oddly built bg he rage quit. ;-)

My Lords of madness case came yesterday! Finally got a chance to go thru them and take pictures.

Couldn't have been a better case - 3 VRs, none of which I'd ordered as singles - c'tallum(much better looking then expected), Mephistopheles(really nice - as expected), and huge blue dragon(really nice - as expected).

9 rares most of which I hadn't ordered. Most of the ones I hadn't gotten in my amazon boosters looked great.

Better then expected:
c'tallum - not so shiny and actually washed - pose looks better in person
Zhentarim Cavalry - was really looking forward to this piece - and even better then expected - looks better then the pic in the gallery - one of the best mounted minis I've seen.
Zhentarim Soldier - nice shield
Water Archon Shoal Reaver - actually a pretty cool mini
Trapped Chest - looks great - wish it'd been a common
Rot Grub Swarm - looks like real grubs... what more can you say
Kenku Wing Mage - actually a cool looking mini
Iron Golem Juggernaut - other then the goofy small head - great looking
Efreet Flameblade - makes a great devil/demon soldier
Astral Giant - nice shield
Brain in a jar - looks great

New LOM minis arrived today

New LOM minis arrived today - got my minis from amazon using gift cards I had gotten - ordered 4 packs of the new set. No huge VR, but 1 rare and 3 UC. Got 5 rares (3 med,1lg,1hu)and a medium VR total - so can't complain about that. Also got some of the CR minis I ordered from auggies a few days ago - so threw in some pics of them too. My daughter has started painted some of them as rainbow zombie dragons already. ;-) Blue PC minis seem a little small - maybe after a layer of paint they'll look a little more robust.

Nicer then expected:
Tri-horn behemoth - great looking triceratops - and they have to be good cause it is such an easy piece to find in packs of plastic "dinos". One of my favorites I got from the new set.

Stone giant - great looking giant - will easily proxy for lots of giants or large humanoids - would be good for repainting

Cloaker ambusher - looks great - and the back which is never shown looks great - nicely patterned darker blue

DB elementalist - great looking DB arcane

Lots of minis looked as good as expected - ones that are pictured but not listed below

Not so nice as expected:

Nalfeshnee tyrant - could use 1 more paint step, goofy little wings

Trebuchet - really disappointed in this one - tipsy, bending over - could have used a little more plastic I think - one of the minis i was really looking fwd too - and ordered extras. :-(

After 3 tries, finally had a successful order....

ordered when 1st announced a couple of years ago - cancelled and assumed production was cancelled.... but wait

announced awhile back that it was going to be released - so started saving my free amazon gift cards

saw the preorder up on amazon again, but no quantity to order

passed on the auggies preoreder since I had the amazon gift cards and amazon had the preorder up

preorder date on amazon caame and went

finally they took the page down --- oh noes!

ordered from another company that had a listing on amazon..... They cancelled their order cause "it was autolisted at too low a price(full retail) and they wanted to relist at a higher price" ---- "Amazon seller: Art's Game Store" ---- don't waste your time ordering from them

none were available to order.... so ... oh noes!

Next day saw one listed by "Amazon seller: gamers_inn" they shipped and it arrived today!

Finally got it!

Happy new Year!

Wanted to get a "quantam king kondo" - but the price online is ridiculous - so I bought a regular clear one to create my own. Also noticed on the real one - it looks like his chains are painted gold - I decided to go with clear gold rather then the thick gold of the real one. The chains were completed - this uses a gold colored indian ink pen. I will let that dry and then add the purple highlights next time I paint. But while my daughter and I were photographing him afterwards - the pictures turned out pretty awesome.

Pictures are first with normal light, then red led, and then white led. The red led ones turned out great - and look as good as any clear mini pictures I've seen on the web- and this is just with a standard led flashlight and nikon coolpix l20 camera in macro mode.

New stuff for Minis - new set out - Savage encounters - in hand pics - a game day - and some repaints.....

Sorry for the lazy post combining everything new into one post.

Had a good gameday Sat Nov 7th, several people showed up for some good minis - we used the Heroscape map pieces for the map instead of the normal ddm maps that I have - everyone agreed that this was better, and very easy to customize based on the number of players - because of people coming and going, and a couple people out sick - we had games of 3 players - so we made a map with 3 starting areas - pretty cool.

Also my 3 year old and I have started painting minis again - we even repainted a couple of the new beholders from the last set.

I did one that could be used as a ghost/spectral/undead beholder. And it glows in the dark! Started with repainted in white, then a layer of grey, then a ghostly green layer, then a layer of gloss with sparkles in is, the eye done in mettalic light green, and a layer of glow in the dark paint. All the repainted were then sprayed with glossy coat.

Also did a couple of practice magma brutes to toxic brutes(one wet brush then wipe, and one dry brush)

Here's my daughters beholder that fell asleep with his eye closed and got hit by a halfling mage with 'color spray'.

Also we did some earth titans we did on a different day....I keep trying to explain about gloppy paint.....:

Overall, an ok set, not as good as the last one though. Some of the minis could have used better paint jobs, and eyes were an issue on several. Also a few stinker rares. Maybe time to increase the price again to raise quality....

Sac dagger on temple defender worked out pretty good, high def caused him to live and live and live with 2 near full heals - it was gg after the 2nd heal

Just played against a KF player, and the way the new KF runes combine - he ended up with a crapload of hp on crap summons and treefolk..... Why couldn't FW get some OP stuff too, most of the new FW stuff is shoebox or at best very specialized. He practically had the game wrapped up by about the 4th turn, when he dropped a stealthed trap in my font, meant all my lumbering champs had a long way to walk.... domi saved the day again, when I had his weasal do a cliff dive, it made the comeback possible, as they lost a lot of hp, and it seemed like I was killing stuff just to get hp off other stuff, a couple things died on the other side of the map when I killed his wb and that sort of thing..... finally had the comeback nearly complete when he got tired and retired. Was about to sac dagger his spider for a full heal on my draco.....when it was gg.....

I hate to lose to KF, it made me stick around

Crazy FW/ST vs. ST L'usara's Staff battle

Trying out the crazy new ST staff..... having the FW physical damage sure helped vs. his frost damage, he even hit me with a rebound, but I already mostly had the middle font, so it turned out ok. 2x EA, 2x LS for both of us.... All 4 EAs and 4 STaffs were out at the same time. About the worst matchup he could get.

Still one of the hardest matches I've had in awhile, that I managed to win. Need to finish cping my champs, and he definitely knew ST better then I do....

not an easy bg to win with - you almost always start out behind and have to come back(especially against kf) - but against a SL noobie - it was over from the opening tip-off.... what a difference a 1000 ranks makes..... you can actually play fun bgs at this level.....

oh, and I actually had a Bile zombie survive the whole match - he kept picking up and dropping the pendant - the skeez next to him couldn't hit him except for the round I forgot to do that. ;-) Held the font the whole match.

got a great draw - went 2nd and got a greater pitspawn - got my font and charged his shrine. folowed up with imp and firemaw - had my very slow dwarf run down to grab the other bottom font. He didn't get such a bad draw - with lonx defender and nora beast. But like I said - different game - he brought out juya and a tiger to attack the pitspawn and put the tiger right by GP.... one rounded the tiger - put a CB on juya - he actually cast rebound to get rid of it though. then brought out a icesnap...GP is now awestruck - but he has retreat so does that and puts the 2nd fire ruby in between us.... this is where the rank starts to show - 2 rounds in a row he hits GP 2 or more times and activates both absorb, and then arrow eater. Like the GP needs more damage. finally he summons a Yeti - but even this doesn't finish off the GP.... So domi had come up - yeti was 1 space away from icesnap - domi him and kill icesnap - then it was gg.

Losing streak had hit 11 games - it was mostly with fun bgs, and about 3 of them I shoulda won, but made mistakes at the end(exampl of how it went - next to opponents shrine which had 5 hp, killed by summon ant - when it could have been avoided)

Also - this is win 100 in DoW.

First win against a TOP 200 opponent!!!!!!! - took almost an hour - great game - 11 dow points at the end - post 1

What can I say - one of the toughest matches I ever faced(rank 163 SL/UD vs. my FW/FS), and pulled off(i've had tougher games that I lost). Nearly an hour long:

Sciroppo brought it to me early, charging in with cheap SL units.

Managed to survive the onslaught, when he followed up with broodmothers and Klizik + brood + wake the brood - this gave him huge damage - and he kept shattering my CBs.....

Finally stuck a 20 nora stone on his BM, and locked her down with a magnetic arun, and then pinged her down, then he feinted a retreat and pulled her back and cast the hated - draconic benediction!!!

But he had so many units he couldn't move them all in time, also he did this with a spider leaping spell, and a last DB towards the end of the game.....

The problem for him, was all these units were generating massive nora for my UT. I was able to do several things a turn or bring out a big unit.

Then i got my froggy out that killed all his summons, and he didn't have much left on the board. he had a level 30 ava though - which he transfigured and charged with - then more woken spider eggs - the retrib to take out my WW....

This is when he hit me with the DB - I thought it was gg - but he couldn't kill my Hydraxor, which was sitting next to his ava at this point.... finally gg for me when I killed it!!!!

Thought he'd won it when he killed my angel and my sonic early with DB and he still had akakios w/ RB + herald on the field, then I shattered it and gave him a CB, brought up 'the exile', domi'd his herald, ended up having to shatter my own fleshewn helm to put on a sac dagger before killing ak for the healing for exile. Got lucky when avalache showed me his acid trap(this would have been gg otherwise for him). Then he hung on for awhile longer even after it was over....

In honor of souldfrost being nerfed - finally tested out the hypercam for recording a pox movie

Lots of people are often asking about taking pox movies, so I thought I'd give an example and how I'm doing it.

So I give you the Angels descent walkthru using soulfrost pre-nerf(it got nerfed a few hours after this run thru.

I am using hypercam Ver. 2.14.04

I have included screen caps of the settings that I changed, although your setting may vary some, depending on your computer and resolution of pox.

First - download and install hypercam
load up hypercam
load up pox
goto hypercam and under screen area click "select window" - then click on your pox window. - now the pox window is selected as the recording area - don't move it or the recording won't catch the whole screen - the recording doesn't follow the window if you move it around. Also - when in the middle of a game you're recording, don't move or minimize the pox window - or it will record whatever is in the screen area where the pox window was.

now goto hot keys - either use the defaults or set your own

now goto avi file - set the loaction the file will be written. Set the "rate in fraes per sec". after testing a bit record:2 playback:10 seems watchable and speeds up the match x5 so watching it is faster then playing it. Sound will only record if these are set the same value.... using these setting with the pox window at 1366 x 768, a game just under 10 minutes, plays back in 1:52 and took up around 100 megs with no sound.
Your other option is to record with higher quality settings and then compress the file using video editing software.

Once you have everything set and pox up on the screen, hit "f2" or whatever hot key you selected and recording will begin. Once ready to end, hit your hot key again.

I didn't mess around with pausing, but you can also use a hot key for that.

The other way to compress the files is to upload them to a site like youtube or photobucket that automatically compresses the vidoes for you. The videos recorded to an .avi file, but when I uploaded them to photobucket, the images were heavily compressed and converted to .flv format.

Onto the sample videos, the quality is much higher in the originals, but even compressed to .flv, they are still watchable. And a moment of silence for soulfrost, we hardly knew ya. - Also - the previous run thru - got an exo frag - this haul wasn't much to look at.

man those barbs can hit hard on occasion, crazy amounts of hits for tons o damage - a lesser dragon would have fallen, but not Kexeriona the real Serpent of decay

first game - quick rush, got 'last stand' early - flew in and started smashing barbs.

2nd game - more dragged out back and forth on the FW map - soulreave saves the day, but man its been awhile since I cast that. 'last stand' came late, took much more creative playing to stay alive.

got rushed bad by a KF'er - bad draw didn't help - switched battle groups - game 2 - "the revenge"

playing a tough KF/SL split - was fighting in the middle font, but just not getting the runes I needed, when they used a DB to kill everything.... Including my SOD with SOD.... the attacks just kept coming and coming....

I had my font, my ava, 1 skull of decay, and no nora.... didn't get a screenie here though... damn, it woulda been pretty - got one where i have 2 guys vs. a big mass of SL though.

Almost surrendered, but thought, what the heck... its time for a comeback.

fought back with BZ, ravenwraith, and transfigured my shrine - level 12(leveled to 13 after match) - is a beast already. The stars aligned, and killing akakios was the final nail - RW healed for 59! She got a name after wards - 'mort akakios'.

Not much to work with(the executioner is just about to die):

raced in with my dragon and angel, got his font, put equips on him, he put equips on me - and we beat each other up a bit - when it was all over I had his font and he gg'd it.

I hate mirror matches(its much more fun festering and cursing the mortals) - but it was fun seeing all the meta stuff from a really good FW player. Match was pretty good - back and forth couldna been anybodies game - but then I made the mistake of going towards his font - out comes the short lived body guard and the BZ, and it was gg. I didn't feel so bad about cliff diving his guy though, he coulda done it right back. ;-)

Hey - its 4 points for FW, so its all good - ends my 4 game win streak though. :-(

The new salamander looks awesome and the foulspawn hulk is good too. The herzou is good, but smaller then expected, he almost looked like a huge in the online pics....

Plus a couple of pics from minis from the new star wars sets, really like the felucian.

had to sit thru 2 min turns once the game was over and he had no troops left... figured it was a noob since he played so badly, it seemed especially obvious after playing 2 really good players in my previous matches and getting beat.... maybe this is just my lucky map....

So while I was sitting thru these turns - decided to blog about the match which I am prone to do.... usually I wait till after the match is over.... but not this time - so I taunted him, took a screenie, and logging into google blogs.....

but at the victory screen.... he's a vet.....

Its kind of fun using the 'Drakon' as a decoy. Marched in and crushed all - hate taking FW points though...

he drew first turn doomie, i got the angel(9 speed) - he had the center font before I got my close font. Pops out another doomie and equipped an earthgod sigel on my angel to give her lumbering - i didn't get a screen cap of just how feeble i looked at this point - almost ready to give in, but drew a BE, and proceeded to make - "The Comeback" killed his doomies - took the middle font - pushed in to his font and he quit after getting another cursed blade on his barb - and I finally got the new FW dragon in the field - thats a beast if I ever saw one!

I would say what won it, was he kept hitting the BE....and making little BEs

Still looks bad....

halfway there - just about to mobilize!

Long tough hard fought battle with a UD player - I forgot to take screen captures I got so in to it. He had a total spiders bg - with klizik up in the 40s for dmg before I slapped a cursed blade on her(still in the 20s).

Liked having the ravens kill his scorched dwarves... map helped some, with a couple of flying guys, klizik did get one of my angels though... its tough, even his summoned spiders were hitting for 10, and he had several spiders at 15+.... FS would have laughed at this bg with their new anti summon guy. ;-)

So one win - we'll see what my rank is tomorrow - off to play a game of casual.

My case came, but not my singles pre-order, so I have a lot of the set here for review and pics.

Ones that were way better then their online pics i'd seen previously indicated:

Frost Giant - looks goofy in the online pic - awesome in hand

Beholder UT - looks great, much beefier and solid then the online pics, stands up straight, no lean(not that the online pics looked bad - its just even better)(will repaint at least 2)

Elder iron dragon - looks pretty good, not goofy at all

Goristro - badazz demon(i thought he looked good in the original pics, just even better in hand)

remorhaz - pretty cool colors work on a bug - would look good in mettalic(repaint?)

psychic sentinal - its red - could proxy for a lot

little bit disappointed in:

salad spawn - not as large of beefy as pics looked online - pre-ordered a lot of these, so not so happy about this

Minotaur thug - meh - its buff though

Githzerai - could use a wash - something just seems off

bolraza - worst goofiest looking mini in the set

(ones not listed looked about as good as their online pics)

After several hard fought wins in DoW with ff FW, finally moved past IS....

This puts my faction profile and guild as "My Faction" = FW!

started out bad - he had my font quick, then ran back and got his own font when I slowly fought back for it.
